The Montage, Reno, Nevada

Casino achieves big wins in energy efficiency when converted into 23-story mixed-use project

At the time of its completion, the Montage in Reno was the largest building conversion, adaptive re-use project in the United States. It is a 23-story, ecologically-minded reclamation of the former Golden Phoenix Hotel & Casino. This residential community features 380 tower, loft, penthouse, pool terrace, and row housing units, as well as three levels of underground parking, a 1,700 square-foot owner's lounge, a 3,000 square-foot workout facility, and more than 25,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

The residential units called for floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize daylighting. While they were initially specified as commercial-grade, aluminum-frame systems, the project coordinators opted to install Teutonic® Series tilt-turn windows for their exceptional energy-saving performance and aesthetic appeal. They also aligned more closely with the projects' sustainable building goals, and offer a substantial long-term reduction in environmental impact.
